Load Restraint Appreciation and Inspection

LOAD CONTROL
Every year thousands of loads are transported on UK highways & work sites. It can seem like a waste of time and money to strap a load down for a short journey, and it’s easy to assume that a heavy load or a light load either won’t move at all, or won’t cause a problem if it does. The fact remains however that many operators and professional drivers are involved in incidents which can at worst, have catastrophic consequences due to a load being lost in transit.

Spanset Ltd is globally recognised as a leading manufacturer of load security products, using years of extensive industry experience, Spanset has developed a DCPC accredited Load Security training course, enabling professional drivers & transport managers to comply with Road Traffic & Health & safety legislation.

Let Spanset take a load off your mind.

WHAT IS DCPC?
The European Union published the Driver CPC Directive in 2003, affecting all professional LGV and PCV drivers.

For new drivers it introduces an initial qualification, the Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence), which increases the amount of knowledge that drivers need before they can drive. When combined with licence acquisition tests, the initial qualification includes a four hour theory and two hour driving and practical test.

All drivers, new and existing, must then undertake 35 hours of training every five years to ensure that their Drivers CPC is current. This is known as periodic training. Only courses that have been approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) will count towards the Periodic Training requirement.

Take the guesswork out of load security with Spanset’s Load Restraint Appreciation and Inspection course. As a driver or transport manager you have a responsibility to ensure that a load stays secure during transit & isn’t a danger to yourself or other road users.

Just throwing a lashing over a load doesn’t mean it’s secure, especially when the lashing used isn’t strong enough & in poor condition.

Spanset’s innovative course, using state of the art training aids, including practical hands-on experience enables the delegates to;

  • Understand their responsibilities, complying with Road Traffic & Health & Safety Law
  • Identify the causes of load shift & the forces acting on the load during transit
  • Assess the load and the vehicle suitability
  • Select the correct method of securing - Direct & Frictional Lashing
  • Choose the right number of lashing with the correct load rating
  • Carryout a pre-use check of chain & web lashing using inspection checklists

On successful completion of training, delegates will receive a certificate and photo ID card valid for 3 years.
