TRAINING AIM
To provide delegates with the knowledge and skills to work safely within medium risk confined spaces.
Who Should Attend?
This course is aimed at anyone working in a medium risk environment and includes preparing to work safely, entering and exiting medium risk confined spaces safely, using equipment and tools safely, following procedures and dealing with emergencies.

- The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 & Approved Code of Practice
- Identification of a confined space
- Confined space classifications a. Water industry national classification a. National occupational standard
- Risk assessment and workplace safety
- Operation of a safe system of work
- Following and preparing a method statement
- Use of permit to work control measures
- Emergency planning
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Gas detection and ventilation
- Hygiene and first aid
- Escape sets and equipment
- Traversing - simple vertical entry
Assessment
- Practical observation - side entry and top entry no deeper that 3 metres
- Undertaking dynamic risk assessments throughout the exercise to identify hazards
- Responding to risks and hazards
- Dealing promptly with emergencies
- Short answer question paper
Certification
Delegates successfully completing the course will be issued with a Certification by C&G after 28 days, which is valid for 3 years.
