Fall arrest lanyards, blocks and systems stop workers falling to the ground and are essential work at height equipment. However, the problem is not solved only by arresting the fall, the casualty may be suspended out of reach, injured and in need of rescuing to a place of safety for urgent medical care.
Lighter more compact Rescue Kit:
- Improved ergonomic bag design is easier to carry, especially where access is awkward for example through hatches and hooped ladders, and in confined spaces.
Workers are more likely to carry it with them ready for immediate deployment.
Improved pulley system:
- Better control during lowering – less risk of bouncing the casualty on the way down.
- More efficient lifting – easier to rescue a casualty larger than the rescuer.

What is it?
The GOTCHA Kit is a pre-assembled remote rescue system in compliance with EN1496 with individually CE Marked components. The pulley system provides a 3:1 or 4:1 mechanical advantage for lifting and includes a belay device to allow the user to control the rate of lowering safely. A telescopic pole enables the rescuer to attach the pulley system to the casualty remotely.

What can it be used for?
The GOTCHA kit has been designed for either remote lifting, or lowering of a casualty for rescue. The system can be used for recovery of a casualty suspended on his fall arrest equipment without the need to cut him free, or put the rescuer at risk.
The GOTCHA Kit uses either 3, or 4 falls of rope in the pulley system. Therefore the rope length in the kit should be 3, or 4 times the maximum lowering distance required. For example used as a 4:1 system a 100 metre kit can lower a casualty a maximum distance of 25m.

What can it be used with?
Suitable for rescue from Energy Absorbing Lanyards or Fall Arrest Blocks/Self-Retracting Lifelines.

Who can use it?
The GOTCHA Kit is design to be used by 1 person. It can be used by any weight of person and can recover any weight of person. With correct technique a rescuer can lift 3 times their own body weight without difficulty. However, it is essential that workers are trained in the correct techniques for lifting to prevent injury.

How has it been tested?
The GOTCHA kit has been independently tested to EN1496 as a rescue system. Each component in the system has been individually CE marked for their specific function. Each kit is individually proof tested after production. The SpanSet manufacturing process is quality controlled and audited by the British Standards Institute to the international standard for quality management ISO9001:2000

Individual Product History Card - This record card contains all the documentation required to maintain the product. The front forms the European Declaration of Conformity and the table on the reverse can be completed to form the inspection record.
