Round sling with ‘elastic skin’ as protective sleeve
Übach-Palenberg, 12.11.2024 - SpanSet has equipped its Magnum®Plus heavy-duty round sling with an elastic protective sleeve. The main advantage is expressed in the name Magnum®Plus Flex. There are hardly any creases, even in a narrow hook, as the sleeve follows the natural expansion of the sling.
With conventional round slings, the fabric lies in its protective sleeve like in a pair of roomy trousers. This is because space is needed between the endlessly wound polyester yarn and its cover to allow it to expand. This makes the round sling somewhat bulky.
SpanSet has now developed an alternative protective sleeve that fits around the fabric like a natural skin. Round slings expand under load. With the Magnum®Plus Flex, the sleeve stretches with the load, but remains close to the fabric. This results in fewer creases, which is unique. This means that the round sling fits into crane hooks without crushing and without loss of load-bearing capacity. The flexible hose also makes handling easier.
Fewer creases, more protection for the fabric
SpanSet uses a special weaving technique for the innovative cover. This creates a kind of double fabric. When the cover expands under load, the upper layer sinks into the lower layer. The flexible but extremely dense cover is designed to prevent foreign bodies from damaging the fabric made of robust high-performance polyester. Typical damage caused by abrasion can thus be significantly reduced.
For up to 50 tonnes
The reinforced and extremely robust selvedge ensures that the seam does not burst open under load. An RFID transponder is integrated into the tear-resistant label as standard, which stores all relevant data for maintenance work and inspection procedures. SpanSet offers the Magnum®Plus Flex in lengths of two to sixty metres and with a load capacity of 10 to 50 tonnes.
Factory standard guarantees longer service life for premium products
The round sling is manufactured in accordance with EN 1492-2. Like all premium products from SpanSet, the new Magnum®Plus Flex fulfils the SpanSet factory standard, whose quality specifications go beyond the relevant standards and laws. This applies, for example, to longer life cycles. SpanSet also tests various combinations with shackles and the combination of slings and protective sleeves for round slings that are subject to the factory standard. To this end, SpanSet co-operates with experts from Dekra and the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV).
The market launch of Magnum®Plus Flex took place a few weeks ago.
