Easy handling: edge protection with Velcro fastener
Übach-Palenberg, January 7, 2025 – SpanSet has expanded its range of protective products for textile lifting equipment. The NoCut®Wrap has been developed for flexible use on sharp edges.
The new NoCut®Wrap from SpanSet does exactly what its name promises: The cut protection ("NoCut") is wrapped around textile lifting equipment ("Wrap") with just a few simple steps and secured with a Velcro fastener. After the lifting operation, it can be easily separated from the round sling.
Lockable longitudinal opening
This flexibility in application defines the essential difference between the tried-and-tested NoCut® Sleeves from SpanSet and the new NoCut® Wrap. In both cases, these are woven protective sleeves made from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMPE) yarn. While the sleeves are closed cuffs that are pulled over the lifting equipment, the Wrap features a protective sleeve with a resealable longitudinal opening. 'Like a zipper, but we use a hook-and-loop fastener that can be opened and closed repeatedly,' explains SpanSet development engineer Christina Cunsolo.
This simplifies handling: One positions the protective cover at the point of contact with the sharp edge of the anchoring device – ensuring that the Velcro does not come into contact with the edge. After that, it is closed. Short-term adjustments of the edge protection are easily possible
Velcro fastener prevents crushing
Round sling assemblies spread out under load. There is a fundamental risk that a permanently closed protective sleeve can pinch the strands, causing the round sling to lose part of its working load limit (WLL). The NoCut®Wrap prevents this with its Velcro closure. If, during the lifting process, the strands press strongly against the protective sleeve from the inside, the Velcro closure can open, allowing the assembly to spread out unhindered. The cut protection can shift under load even in the open state.
The new NoCut®Wrap is available in several variants with widths ranging from 75 to 315 millimeters, and the length is determined by customer requirements. The innovation was primarily developed for cut protection of round slings. However, the product is also suitable for use on lifting straps.
