Meet The Team -

Steph Powers - Team Leader Customer Support Department

What name/nickname do you prefer to be called?

I don’t have a nick name but like to be called Steph. Only my mum uses Stephanie 😊

If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be?

A bit of everything.  I first joined the company as a Training Administrator and have progressed within the business to Customer Support Specialist. I’m responsible for all aspects of customer services on both products and training. I help with allocating the workload and liaise with the factory regarding production dates. SpanSet UK exports manufactured goods to our sister companies within the SpanSet Group – in particular, Height Safety and Load Control equipment – Harnesses, Lanyards, Capcha, Stoppa, Guardian etc and I am involved with these exports.

What do you enjoy about the work you do.

I enjoy that every day is different.  We speak to lots of different people about a wide variety of issues – there’s never a dull moment!  I find it really rewarding solving customer problems.

I manage the Training diary, ensuring our Instructors are not in London one day, Edinburgh the next, then back to Kent – they wouldn’t thank me for that.  It can be quite the puzzle and I love the challenge of solving it, keeping the Training diary as efficient as possible for both customer and Instructor alike.

What are your hobbies?

I’ve always enjoyed travel both in the UK and abroad, though mostly in Europe as I’m not a fan of flying so the shorter the flight the better.  I’m interested in the seeing the sights when on holiday and find different cultures interesting.  We had a caravan in Anglesey until recently and I enjoyed spending time there in beautiful North Wales.

What volunteering or passion projects do you do outside of work?

We brought our house in May and doing it up is turning into a bigger project than expected so that is taking up most of my free time at the moment!

Steph's been busy working on her house and garden.

Steph enjoys travelling around the UK and Europe.  A good knowledge of UK geography will certainly help when planning the training diary!

On a visit to York Minster, Steph noticed one of SpanSet's Gotcha Rescue Kits. (When you work for SpanSet you start noticing what Height Safety equipment people use.)
