INTRODUCTION


This emergency first aid course is designed for anyone wanting to become an accredited first aider or appointed first aid person, or anyone wanting to gain basic emergency first aid knowledge. The course also includes elements dealing with first aid issues that arise when falling from height such as suspension syncope & spinal injury awareness. 


PRE-COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:  
  • Candidates must have a good knowledge of written & spoken English.
  • SpanSet reserves the right to exclude unsuitable delegates from training courses.
  • Delegates must be 18 years or over.
COURSE SYLLABUS CONTENT
  • The day to day role of a first aider.
  • How to communicate with a casualty.
  • Communicating with an unconscious casualty.
  • What a first aid kit needs.
  • How to avoid cross infection.
  • Recording an incident.
  • How to apply CPR.
  • How to deal with minor cuts, grazes, burns etc.
  • Dealing with blood loss.
  • Attending a casualty dealing with shock.
  • How to treat a choking casualty.
  • Suspension Syncope/Trauma
  • Spinal Injury Awareness
  • Radio frequency burns and electric shock
Certification


On successful completion of training, delegates will receive a Highfield certificate of competence.
