CAD Lift Planning

Course Aims

This course is designed for candidates who already hold an Appointed Person qualification and wish to develop the skills required to produce professional lift plans using CAD software.

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to use CAD software to support the planning of lifting operations safely and efficiently, creating clear and accurate lift drawings that represent site conditions and crane configurations.

Course Content

During the course, delegates will develop practical CAD skills relevant to lift planning, including:

• Opening and navigating AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software
• Working effectively within Modelspace and Paperspace environments
• Using basic drawing and modification commands
• Configuring drafting settings
• Managing layers, blocks and drawing standards
• Producing accurate lift plans representative of site conditions and crane dimensions
• Applying correct drawing terminology
• Maintaining drawing registers and documentation

The course combines practical software training with lifting industry knowledge to ensure drawings clearly communicate lifting plans and site constraints.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an in-house Sibbald certificate, valid for 3 years.

Entry Requirements

To attend this course, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Pre-requisite: An Appointed Person qualification (CPCS, NPORS, or equivalent in-house certification with suitable knowledge)
• Basic IT skills, including familiarity with software such as Excel, Word and Outlook
• Delegates must bring their own fully functional laptop
• A mouse with scroll wheel and keyboard are required for effective CAD operation
• Candidates are responsible for ensuring firewall or IT restrictions do not prevent software download or installation
