MATS Rooftop Worker Safety & Access

PRE-COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Delegates must be 18 years and over.
  • All delegates must be able to certify they are physically fit and have no medical conditions that might prevent them working at height prior to commencement of training.  (A list of conditions that could affect practical training is available upon request.  If in doubt, call our team on 01606 738529 for advice prior to booking).
  • SpanSet reserves the right to exclude unsuitable delegates from training courses.

  • Temporary Anchor Points (Weighted Anchors)
  • Retractable Type Fall Arrester (Fall Arrest Block)
     
COURSE SYLLABUS

Theory/Practical Activities (Knowledge, understanding & practical skills).

  • Legislation & safety standards that apply to working on a rooftop. 
  • Assessing risk’s related to rooftop access.
  • Managing common hazards.
  • Using harnesses.
  • Using fall arrest lanyards.
  • Selecting appropriate anchor points including ‘weighted’ anchors.
  • Using fixed fall arrest & work restraint systems
  • Using work position lanyards.
  • Using additional fall prevention equipment.
  • Suspension Intolerance (syncope) awareness.
  • Lifting & Lowering Systems.
  • Demonstrating climbing techniques,
  • Consideration of emergencies & rescue arrangements.
     
Assessment

The course is delivered & assessed in English only. The course includes both a written & practical assessment. Please contact the training team on 01606 737494 to discuss reasonable adjustments.

Certification

On successful completion candidates will receive a certificate valid for three years.
