Harness Instructor Module (as part of the IPAF Instructors Criteria)

PRE-COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

• Delegates must be 18 years and over.
• All delegates must be able to certify they are physically fit and have no medical conditions that might prevent them working at height prior to commencement of training.  (A list of conditions that could affect practical training is available upon request.  If in doubt, call our team on 01606 738529 for advice prior to booking).
• SpanSet reserves the right to exclude unsuitable delegates from training courses.
• Candidates must be an IPAF member working towards being and IPAF registered instructor.

OVERVIEW 

This is a stand alone module designed specifically for and accepted by IPAF for Harness Instructors.

• The course is intended to give IPAF instructors the necessary background knowledge to enable them to deliver the IPAF Harness Training Course.
• IPAF Instructors completing this module will also be considered competent in the thorough examination of harnesses and lanyards for use in a MEWP.

• Full Body Harnesses
• Work Restraint Lanyards
• Fall Arrest Lanyards
• Retractable Type Fall Arresters (Fall Arrest Blocks)
• Connectors

COURSE SYLLABUS

Theory  

• Be aware of the relevant Health and Safety Legislation.
• Be aware of the importance of selecting the appropriate Personal Fall Protection Equipment for the task and environment.
• Be able to identify and select the correct form of Personal Fall Protection Equipment for use in a Mobile Elevated Work Platform.
• Be able to inspect and maintain harnesses and lanyards.
• Have an awareness of the design and manufacturing process for harnesses and lanyards.

Practical

• Be able to fit and use the harness and lanyard identified.
• Witness static and dynamic testing of Personal Fall Protection Equipment.
