SpanSet work closely with the construction industry and keeping workers safe when at work is integral to what SpanSet do...

We are therefore delighted to support the Lighthouse Club Construction Industry Charity!

The Lighthouse Club provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.
Founded in 1956 by a group of gentlemen who had been attending a Ministry of Public Buildings and Works Exhibition on Tyneside, who found themselves on the seafront at Whitley Bay. Under the light of St Mary’s Lighthouse, they vowed to extend the goodwill they enjoyed at the show by forming the ‘Lighthouse Club’ to benefit the entire industry by offering aid and assistance to ill or injured construction workers.

The Lighthouse Club provide a range of free and widely available resources including:

·        A free and confidential 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline. Whether you’re an employer or an employee, the helpline provides the first point of contact for those who need to access a range of completely confidential support services.
·        A free Construction Industry Helpline App which is the ultimate self help tool. It is aimed at those who may not feel comfortable speaking with someone or would like more information about how they can help themselves before taking the next step in seeking professional help.
·        Construction Focused Wellbeing and Mental Health Training programmes ranging from hour long interactive wellbeing sessions through to the MHFA England approved Mental Health First Aider courses.
·        Plus much more – visit https://www.lighthouseclub.org/ for more information.
The Lighthouse Club has launched their ‘Help Inside the Hard Hat’ campaign to raise awareness of poor mental health within the construction industry. In the UK, two construction workers take their own lives every working day and stress, anxiety and depression account for a fifth of all work-related illnesses. https://www.lighthouseclub.org/help-inside-the-hard-hat/

The Lighthouse Club does not receive any public funding, relying on donations from within the construction industry for a reliable and sustainable income to ensure they can continue to deliver the emergency financial and emotional support the construction workforce and their families so desperately need.  SpanSet are proud to support this excellent charity and look forward to running our ‘Lighthouse Day’ – details to follow of what we get up to, to help raise much needed funds!
