Meet the Team

Jude Fielding - Marketing Assistant

What name/nickname do you prefer to be called?

For as long as I can remember, people have called me Jude.  (It may be something to do with the fact that I was born the year that the Beatles released ‘Hey Jude’ – giving my age away there!)

If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be?

I think Marketing Assistant is an appropriate title for what I do.  As part of the Marketing Team I enjoy a varied role.  I am involved in organising the ever popular SpanSet Technical Days as well as the numerous events and exhibitions SpanSet attend.  We are more focused on digital marketing now rather than being brochure led and I am constantly updating the website with news articles, new webpages and improved product descriptions.  Social media is of course an important aspect of our work and I run SpanSet UK’s facebook, twitter and linkedIn accounts.  I also support our various departments preparing everything from Training e-shots to sales literature.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

My job is so positive! – my role is to communicate with our customers about SpanSet UK’s news stories, product developments, free Technical Days etc. I really like preparing information to go ‘live’, adding the images and graphics etc.  It’s so satisfying when you see people are engaging with it.

I appreciate, at this stage in my career, being given the opportunity to embrace new technology and modern marketing methods as SpanSet focuses on digital marketing and love that there will always be something new to learn as my role continues to evolve.

What are your hobbies?

Live performance, comedy, theatre, concerts – that’s watching not doing! I am lucky to live in an area that is close to many great regional theatres and music/comedy venues.  Certain times of the year I could be out 2 or 3 times a week watching a play or going to a concert or live comedy show.

I do read a lot, mostly crime fiction and psychological thrillers.  I started reading my parents’ collection of Agatha Christie novels at a young age and I still love a good murder!

What volunteering or passion projects do you do outside of work?

Due to family caring commitments, I am limited in what I can do at the moment though I do make time for my dog, who’s a very demanding springer spaniel.

I did look into the possibility of being a PAT (Pets as Therapy) dog handler with Georgie my spaniel, however even though she is now an adult she’s far too excitable and would cause havoc in an old folk’s home or hospital!

Georgie - my English Springer Spaniel!

Rebecca - one of my all time favourite novels, and a couple of recent reads which I really enjoyed!

One of my favourite theatres, the New Vic, Stoke.  Theatre in the round is very immersive especially if you sit on the front row (like I always do) you become part of the scene.

One of the most memorable performances at the New Vic was Mountaintop.  I wasn’t really expecting to enjoy it but I loved it!
