Meet The Team -

Justin Evans - Solutions Specialist

What name/nickname do you prefer to be called?

Whilst I was in the Military I was known as “The Rock” (not that I was anything like Dwyne Johnson) because if I was snapped in half I would have Royal Navy written through me like Blackpool Rock.  Now it’s my given name “Justin” that I’m known by, I almost feel grown up!

If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be?

My official Title is “Sales Account Manager“ but I'd like to be known as a Solutions Specialist. Having 9 years experience in the training department here at SpanSet I pride myself on being able to help our customers with their safety challenges giving the best solution possible. I will focus on increasing our exposure in Load Contol industries but I am also on hand to help anyone with their height safety and lifting challenges.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

People tend to say “its different everyday!”   Working at Height is work in any place, at, above or even below ground level, if you injure yourself falling from that place,  so my job is different every single day.   This month alone I’ve trained teams to evacuate from off shore drilling rigs in Falmouth, the next day I was 75 metres up a Tower Crane at Hinckley Point power station. The week after on top of bin lorries & this week teaching warehouse operatives to evacuate out of the cabs of high rise fork lifts,15 metres up.  The biggest height difference I’ve had was at South Quays Plaza at Canary Wharf where on day 1 I was 245m (805ft) up the tallest tower crane in the UK, the next day I was 200ft under the Thames in London's new Super Sewer, so over a 1000ft difference in height, my job really is different every single day!

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies are Mountain Biking, there are lots of mountain bike trails & centres within half an hour of my home.   I also love walking - on the Samsung Fitness App I’m in the top 5% of people for my age for step counts & the top 20% across every age (globally).   I absolutely love rugby, I played up to the age of 42 but was taking longer & longer to recover so now am an avid arm chair fan but go to watch the annual Army Vs Navy match, the biggest non-professional sporting event in the world, regularly filling Twickenham to capacity!

What volunteering or passion projects do you do outside of work?

Our house is over 100 years old & takes up a lot of time, I hate DIY but my partner loves it, so it’s not my passion project but by default it sort of is..................
