Meet the Team

Johnny Leigh - Inspector

What name/nickname do you prefer to be called?

My full name is Jonathan, however everyone knows me as Johnny or Jon.

If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be?

My official job title is Inspector.  I’m responsible for carrying out PPE & Lifting equipment inspections to ensure customers are compliant with current legislation. SpanSet offer a fully managed service and it is my aim that operations run as efficiently and smoothly as possible for the customer.   Inspections are carried out on site – I liaise with Arqiva and other customers for permits to access sites and for workers to be present with their PPE at the correct time/place. This involves a lot of planning and preparation, so I see myself as more of an Inspections Project Manager.

What are your hobbies?

The sites I visit are situated in some beautiful locations, many in the middle of nowhere.  I have a love of the outdoors so enjoy the fact that my ‘office’ is the stunning British countryside.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I’m a keen cyclist and hill walker. I also enjoy running to keep fit, watching sports (anything from rugby to triathlon) and walking my dog Stan, who’s a real character 😊

What volunteering or passion projects do you do outside of work?

I was part of a charity bike ride with colleagues Neil Pinder and Steve Heaton that raised thousands of pounds for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice. We rode 150 miles and helped to raise money for this excellent cause.
