Meet the Team

Geoff Holden - Business Development Manager

What name/nickname do you prefer to be called?

I’ve never had a nickname; everyone calls me Geoff.

If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be?

I see my job as creating a link between the customer and the company, interpreting what the customer needs for their job into products we can supply.  Looking for new prospects and opportunities is key to the future of any company and I find that challenging and interesting.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

Working with the customer to develop solutions for problems is the most rewarding part of the job.  I enjoy the process of looking at problems and developing an answer.

What are your hobbies?

I have raced sailing dinghies since secondary school, with varying degrees of success, I’m sure my family would say it’s not a hobby but more of an obsession.  Both my children tried it but only the younger one got the bug, one side benefit of this is that we have sailed together since she was 7, as she is now 30 so we’ve enjoyed many memories together sailing in many national and a couple of world championships together.

Living in Cornwall provides lots of opportunity for walking, provided you have good wet weather gear handy.  I’m also a reluctant gardener, I enjoy the end effect but not always the process.

What volunteering or passion projects do you do outside of work?

I’m not currently involved in volunteering but have run three London marathons raising money for various charities.  I am on the committee for the village resident’s association.

In a previous job I was lucky enough to travel internationally often to less visited places such as Nigeria, Syria and China but regularly to UAE, Singapore, Australia and America.  This has left me with the travel bug, I enjoy the whole process having become used to long haul flights, my first trip to Australia left me away from the big cities with a 41-hour trip back to the UK, I planned trips a lot better after that experience.  Hopefully we can all start to travel more soon.
