Fall Arrest Energy Absorbing Lanyards

SpanSet have manufactured high quality and performance fall arrest lanyards for over 25 years.

Higher efficiency, reduced fall distance, improved safety

Energy Absorbing has been the foundation of our range and has surpassed the performance requirements of EN355 ensuring comfort and safety for workers.

SP150 Energy Absorbing includes

  • Testing and certification to all the the EN355 performance requirements using a 150kg test mass
  • Improved clearance figures further reduce risks.
  • Published clearance height data for 50kg, 100kg,  and 150kg workers in the instruction manual.
  • Integrated ring allows the lanyard leg to be clipped back to the shock absorbing pack.
  • More compact MAX-SPAN configuration giving the lanyard legs a greater effective working length between anchors.
  • New cover giving better protection to the energy absorbing webbing and making the unit easier to inspect.
  • Improved performance tear webbing - after rigorous testing and certification, the result is a tear webbing that delivers controlled, reliable deployment up to 150kg mass.
  • CE label and traceability data is protected inside the pack for increased longevity.
  • *Option of Radio Frequency tracer tagging within the label.

Safe clearance
distance required

When using fall arrest lanyards it is important that the user is aware of the safe clearance distance required below their feet. The graph to the right demonstrates how thet SpanSet range of lanyards have surpassed the requirements of EN355.

Differences between
Single and Twin
fall arrest lanyards

Single Lanyard Applications

  • Fixed work positions where the anchor point doesn't change.
  • Horizontal roof systems where the user is connected to a single mobile device on a system.
    (e.g., fixed horizontal lifelines)
  • Confined spaces with minimal need for movement.
  • Low-movement tasks such as inspecting equipment at a stationary point.

Twin Lanyard Applications

  • Climbing structures (e.g., towers, scaffolding) where constant movement between anchor points is required.
  • Construction sites, telecom towers, wind turbines, where moving from point to point is frequent.
  • Maintaining 100% tie-off — the main reason for using twin lanyards.
  • Tasks requiring continuous fall protection while transitioning anchor points.

Choosing the right lanyard based on your job

Fixed or adjustable Energy Absorbing Lanyard

  • Basic and reliable solution.
  • Anchor point is always at a known, optimal distance.
  • Work in a static position.
  • Applications: Inspecting equipment on a roof, MEWP works...

Elasticated Lanyard

  • Convenience and comfort.
  • Best for move frequently across your workspace
  • Reduce snagging, tangling, or tripping on the lanyard.
  • Applications: scaffolding or steel erection.

Looped/Tie-Back Lanyard

  • Wrap the lanyard around a beam, post, or rebar.
  • When there are no dedicated anchorage points.
  • Multi-use tool without carrying extra gear (like anchor slings).
